Fellow diners shocked as naked man sits in restaurant

SALMON CREEK, Wash. -- There was an unexpected diner at a local restaurant this week in Salmon Creek.

A naked man.

According to witnesses, a man crossed a busy intersection and walked right into a restaurant completely naked. The sight shocked fellow restaurant diners.

One witness, Aaron Wenner, said he wasn't quite sure what he was really seeing at first. But he was even more surprised to watch the man sit down, walk around and even put his leg on the table in front of other people.

Wenner said he saw the man walking down the street, making a beeline for Burgerville. But Wenner then noticed something was strange and it wasn't until he did a double take that he noticed what it was.

"I thought he was wearing shorts at first and I thought man that guy is trucking it, and it's 10 p.m. at night, he's not wearing ... Then I realized there was no shorts, no nothing except a wrist band and folder," Wenner said.

A source said the naked man is a mental health patient. Wenner, at the time, didn't know that, and when he saw a naked man in the restaurant, Wenner grabbed his cell phone and recorded the man's every move for eight minutes.

In the video, the man could be seen walking around naked, walking around tables and walking up to the counter -- all the while naked. He even put his leg on the able wtih the other leg on the floor.

"It's one thing to be sitting there naked and stuff but to sit there with your leg on the table, right in front of the cash register was pretty disturbing," Wenner said.

When deputies arrived, they talked to the man and then led him outside.

Wenner said as shocking as the event was, he's glad there were no little kids around.

"If there would have been young kids in there I think it would have been a whole whole different," he said.

KATU attempted to interview employees at the facility where the man is a patient, but federal privacy laws make it difficult for news organizations to get information. In the end, the man wasn't arrested or charged. He was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
